Goodbye 2010

Since I did not get a Christmas card out this year I thought I would post some of the highlights of our year. We were very blessed this last year. We made a lot of good memories and look forward to the memories that we will make this year.

We found the zoo in Columbia, SC to be full of adventures!!!

I graduated from nursing school. YIPPEE!!!!

My parents, Grandma Schroeder and Aunt Teri came for my graduation. It was so fun to see all of them.

My kids are always excited when Grandpa and Grandma Slider come for a visit. We MISS you!!!

Jarod decided Kickball is the best "SPORT" ever.

Grace took her first ballet class. She looks so beautiful.

I saw my first show with some fun gals. We saw Wicked. It was soooo good. I loved it and we had so much fun!

Our good friends the Fishers took us out on their boat. The kids could not get enough of "Big Bertha" the tube.

We went on our annual beach trip to Hilton Head Island. It was fun, as usual.

Then we moved to Charlotte,NC. The company Nathan works for relocated to Charlotte and we relocated with them. It has been a really good move and we love it here.

Jarod participated in the rain gutter regatta and got second place.

Jarod and Grace competed in a triathlon!! They worked really hard and did a great job.

Our family went threw a Corn Maze. It took forever but we had a lot of fun doing it. we will do it again next year.

Jarod planted a watermelon seed in our back yard and it grew into this!!! YUM!!!

Now that we live about 2 hrs from the Blue Ridge Mountains, we took a couple of hiking trips before it got to cold. It is so beautiful. We think we are going to try to be daring next year and go camping there!

Nate ran his 1st 10k race. He did a great job. I plan on joining him next Thanksgiving.

Grace had a speaking part in the Christmas play at school. She was definitely the best, if you ask me.

It has been so hot here in Augusta. I almost feel like I am back in Arizona except that it is so humid that you never feel dry. We keep our thermostat at 74 degrees with all the ceiling fans on and still cant get cool enough. So I thought I would post some pictures of how cold it was this winter. Augusta had a freak snow storm this winter and my kids were so thrilled. We don't have any snow gear because we have never needed it. They played until they were completely frozen, came in for hot chocolate and then went back out for more.

These first two pictures are of Grace, Kate and the first few flurries.

Kate came inside really sad and said "Dad hit me in the face with a snowball!!!!" She was done playing after that.

This was after the snow finally stopped falling. We never expected this much snow. It was a fun day.

Pinning and Graduation

The night before graduation my nursing class had a pinning ceremony. It is a tradition where we take the Nightingale Pledge and our family pins us. It was very long!!!!! My parents, Nathans parents, My Grandma Schroeder and Aunt Teri all came to support me. It was very nice to have them here. We loved having them.

The kids were very excited to be come on the stage to pin me. Just a coulple of minutes before they called my name Grace threw up all over Grandma Cogbill. When Nathan came to pin me he told me what just happened. So instead of looking excited I think I looked a little puzzled and grossed out. Grace was not feeling well at all. I felt bad for the poor people that sat around my family. Kate was so excited when she got to the stage that she couldnt stop jumping. She just kept jumping in a circle. She only held still long enough to get her picture taken, then jumped all the way back to her seat. Grace, Kate and both Grandma Cogbill and Slider left to get cleaned up and showered. Thanks Mom and Charlyn.

I made a lot of good friends in school. These are two of the best people I know. Diana and Charles were my study buddies. We spent a lot of long later nights and weekends together. We think we have got to be the funniest people around. We laughede and talked about as much as we studied. I could not have made it through school with out them.

The next day was graduation. It was also long. The speaker was crazy!!! The only way to describe her is a VERY enthusiastic southern belle.

Busy as a bee!

Things have been really crazy for us the last couple of years but especially the couple of months. I have been in school full time since we moved to Augusta a few years ago but I finally graduated nursing school and passed my boards. It was really hard going to school full time and taking care of the family at the same time. I could not have done it with out all the help and support from Nathan. He was great. He did most of the cleaning and laundry these last couple of years with hardly a complaint. He even had to get the kids ready and off to school 2 days a week. That is a task in itself with two girls to get ready. He did a great job. I am very thankful for him and all the hard work he did to get me through school. He is a great guy and I Love him with all my heart.

I thought things would slow things down a bit, but the company Nathan works for has relocated to Charlotte, NC. So now we are still busy trying to find a house and get settled before school starts for the kids. Maybe things will slow down then.

Our summer has been so crazy. I had to go to summer school and I didn't get any time off until the last week of summer. Thank goodness for babysitters. Our niece Jordynn came to stay with us for 2 weeks, Grandma Cogbill had the kids sleep over at her house for a week and then Grandma Slider came to stay for 7 weeks. Now the kids are board with just Dad and me. We are so thankful for all the help everyone gave us. We could not have gotten through the summer without all of you.
As soon as I was done with my final we headed down to Hilton Head Island. We love Hilton Head. We mostly stay at the beach but we also have a tradition of going to the Pirate put put (which I will post later). Nate, Jarod and Grace love going deep in the water while Kate and I are land dwellers. I don't like sharks and Kate doesn't like waves. These pictures are just a few highlights of our beach stay. Grace also had her 6th birthday while we were at the beach. I will post those later too. We had a lot of fun.

Nathan and the kids found lots and lots of sand dollars. They are all over the ocean floor. They would feel for them with their feet the drive down and get them.

Fourth of July

We had a great Fourth of July this year. We celebrated it twice. Fort Gordon does their firework show early, so we went with our good friends the Richards. It was a great show. We all had a good time. Kate is still afraid of the loud noises so she covers her ears and tries to look up sometimes.

Then our other good friends the Loo's invited us over to do fireworks at their house. We did this last year and had so much fun we couldn't turn them down even though it was a 2 1/2 hour drive. Ryan did a good job at showing my kids the wrong way to handle firecrackers. Nate and Ryan also got into a Roman Candle fight. I think Ryan won. The Bryant's were there too. We have so much fun with them and miss them.

Grace loves gymnastics! She has been looking forward to her recital for awhile now. She did such a great job and even won a medal! Most of the pictures turned out dark or fuzzy. I can not figure out how to take good pictures at the gymnastics studio.

Nathans company entered a bowling for Charity event and Nate was supposed to get a team of 5. So instead of coworkers he chose us. The kids really enjoyed it. I bowled my best game. I broke 100. Granted there were bumpers in the gutters, so it was impossible to roll a gutter ball. Jarod and Kate stayed busy between their turns by doing what they love best. EATING all the snacks out of the goodie bags!

We had so much fun Easter morning. A tradition in my family is for the Easter Bunny to hide our baskets. Then when we wake up in the morning we have to find them. My kids love doing this too. I also just let them eat their candy until it is gone. I always loved that my Mom would let us eat our candy until we were sick.

Need I say more? We got a tramp a couple of weeks ago and I think it was probably one of the best purchases we have ever made (beside the dirt devil). The kids always want to jump. Jarod likes to do "Ground Pounds" like they do on Mario brothers. Now both of his sisters think it is fun to do that too. Grace likes to do twirls. Kate just jumps and jumps and jumps. Then runs in circles until she falls down and skids her nose across the tramp. Oh fun times.

It has been quite awhile since we have posted anything. So I thought I would catch you up a little. We went to Utah to vistit my family for Christmas. We had so much fun! It snowed so much. Our kids were so excited. We went sledding, made a couple of snowmen and snow forts. My parents neighborhood pool is a hot spring so we went swimming in the snow. Well at least the kids went swimming while Nathan threw snowballs at them. We got to spend lots of times with Grandpa and Grandma Slider and most of our aunts uncles and causins. We miss them all so much.

The other big thing is school. I was accepted and started the nursing program at Augusta State University. It stresses me way out but I love it! We just had our first test and I got an A. I also just bought my stethascope ,bandage scissors, hemostat, and pen light. It made me feel official. Hopefully I can make it through.

Tis the season to meet Jolly

Jolly our Elf is back! Last year Santa sent us "The Elf on the Self'." On December 1st of last year Santa door bell ditched us a gift. When we opened it there was a book and an elf. The book told us how the elf was there to help Santa. He would watch us and listen to our stories. He knows how we behave at school, in the car, at the park, any where we go. Then when we go to sleep at night, he flies home to the North Pole and tells Santa all about our day, if we were good or bad. Then he filies back before we wake up and hides. Then we have to go around the house to find him. There are a couple of rules, he cant talk to us because that is Santas law. The other rule is that we cant touch him because he might loose his magic. Sometimes he gets into a little mischief. Like yesterday he was hanging from the ceiling fan. It is a good thing it is not hot outside. He might go flying when we turn the fan on (like Dad wanted to do). We all try to do our best to be very good. Except for Dad! He always tries to touch Jolly. Then he says "...all Jolly does is sit around on the self all day. He is so LAZY."

We love Jolly and are glad he will come back every Christmas forever and ever.

Kate turned 2 on the 18th of October. I really cannot believe she is that old. She loved when everyone sang Happy Birthday. She is such a sweetheart. She is always talking and singing. Kate likes to run up to you, give you a big hug around your legs and say "I lub ewe!" She thinks Jarod and Grace are the coolest and most bossy people on the planet. She copies everything they do. We really love our fair skin, blond hair, blue eyed baby.

We are so proud of Jarod making the decision to be baptized. Grandma and Grandpa Slider flew in from Utah to be here. Grandpa and Grandma Cogbill, Aunt Danielle, Juston, Uncle Adam, Aunt Melynn and Baby Camrynn all made the 3 hours treck as well. Thankyou all so much for coming. It really ment a lot to Jarod that you were all here to support him. It was a really nice baptism. Jarod shared his day with a little boy in his primary class named Dyllan Taylor. Sister Taylor and Grandma Cogbill gave the talks and Grandma Slider had a blanket embroider for the special day. Grace and Dyllans little sister, Jenna did a great job of singing I am a child of God. Grace was very sweet letting Jarod know as he walked into the water "dont worry Jarod it isnt scarry!" Grace loved blurting out comments all through the baptism. I am sure this dosnt surprise any of you that know her. Jarod said it was a great day and that even though the water was cold he still felt warm inside.

Hilton Head Island

We love Hilton Head Island. We have gone there for the last 3 summers. Our kids are such beach bums. We mostly stay at the beach the whole day but sometimes Nathan and the kids go golfing. We also go shopping at the outlets and take a trip to the put put golf.

On our way home from Disney we stopped in St. Augustine,Fl . They have a real castle there that was built in the 1600s. It is called Castillo de San Marcos. We had a good time.

We had a great time during Spring break. Now that we live in Augusta, our spring break is always the week of the Masters Golf tournament. They encourage locals to leave and rent out their house for the week. We took the kids down to Disney World. Kate stayed at Gretchen and Micheals house while Nathan, Jarod, Grace and I went to Disney. We had so much fun! Grace was tall enough for all the rides except for Space Mountain. She was so brave. Grace was in Heaven when she saw Cinderellas Castle and then got to meet her. It was her dream come true. Jarod loved the big rides and begged to keep going on them. His favorites were Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, and Splash Mountain.
